Water damage
To act quickly
Depending on how long your carpet has been in contact in water will determine what type of damage has been done. Some carpets experience color changes and depending on the complexity of the patterns and colors, the decolorization of carpets are time-consuming. Carpets that have been in contact with water for longer periods of time gain structural damage that deforms the carpet, so that the carpet no longer appears smooth but wavy. This type of damage can be repaired to a certain extent, however, depending on the extent of the damage we may be able to save the whole carpet. One method we use for this is to stretch the carpets onto large boards (in our technical language “Darkeshi”). We let the carpets dry slowly, which causes the thread structure of the carpet to return to the correct position and the carpets lose the wavy structure during the drying process.
